Well, the Peanut finally got it this year! I know what you're thinking - she's only two, Myles. But still...Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year, and Fall is my favorite season, so I really wanted her to enjoy both, and she really did tonight.
In typical Colorado fashion...or at least from my recollection, anyway, it rained and snowed tonight. All the best Halloweens I remember as a kid growing up on Taft Ct. near Morrison involved snow or rain or some nasty type of weather. And you know what? Kids still went out.
We did have a fairly decent showing of kids, although some of them didn't really put enough effort into their costumes, I thought. However, so as to avoid the eggings, we still gave them candy.
But back to Allie. She really enjoyed it...once we gave her the core rules of Halloween (only go to doors with porch lights on, always say "Trick or Treat" and always say "Thank You" after you've got the loot), she was eager to try them herself. I think seeing new people kind of took her back, but at the houses where she knew the neighbors, or where there were other kids, she was fine.
In fact, we were ready to call it a night after about 8 houses, but she insisted we do some more. She couldn't have cared less about the weather...she was just excited to be out, dressed up like a mouse, and getting candy...
All in all, it was a great Halloween and I really can't wait until next year to see if she continues the enthusiasm.
Allie is too cute!
Halloween Rocks!
