So, there are a lot of things I am thankful for today...
1. I got to spend a wonderful long, Thanksgiving weekend in Grand Junction with Delphine, Allie, my Mom, her husband, Steve, and my Grandmother.
2. Delphine cooked an outstanding meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole (my favorite), salad, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes (with marshmallow fluff on top, of course), and a killer dessert of pumpkin pie which was more like pumpkin cheesecake because of the way she made it (YUM!), and a peach cream frozen concoction that was out of this world (made with Grand Junction peaches, of course).
3. The nasty rock slide that took place on Thanksgiving morning around 7:30 a.m. killed nobody due to the highway being shut down because a beer truck had jackknifed. Also, the CDOT workers were able to clear enough of the damage away to get one lane open each way so that travellers, like ourselves, could get home. It was a bit sloppy out, but we made it home and Allie was great, up until we hit Denver, then she REALLY wanted to be out of the car...of course, so did we, and after being in the car for 6-7 hours, that'll make anyone cranky.
You can click on the pics below to get a better view of the rock slide that took I-70 out of commission for a while...check for pop-up blockers if they don't pop-up for you...
