Adobe Systems (creators of such outstanding creative programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, etc.) announced today that they will be acquiring Macromedia, creators of Flash, among other great creative web development tools.
Here's the quote from the press release:
http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelations/adobeandmacromedia.htmlPersonally, I think this is a pretty good deal for all people involved, including us, the end users. Two creative giants are getting together to create a suite of products that will (eventually) work together. I'm only hoping that Adboe doesn't turn into the Microsoft of the creative world and start putting out not-ready-for-prime-time software.
The combination of Adobe and Macromedia strengthens our mission of helping people and organizations communicate better. Through the combination of our powerful development, authoring and collaboration tools – and the complementary functionality of PDF and Flash – we have the opportunity to drive an industry-defining technology platform that delivers compelling, rich content and applications across a wide range of devices and operating systems.
Congrats, Adobe and Macromedia! I look forward to seeing where you can take this big beast!
