Wow! Well, all I can really say is that if you missed the two semi-final games today, you missed some GREAT hockey!
In the first game of the day, the Denver Pioneers met up with in-state rivals, the Colorado College Tigers. It was a pretty defensive game for a good portion of the first period, but then DU's power play, which had been pretty lax most of the season, came alive. In fact, all of DU's 6 goals came on the man advantage. The final of that game was 6-2, and despite getting beat up pretty good, CC had a great showing and some incredible shots, saves and moves all around. Really a great game.
In the second game, the North Dakota Fighting Sioux went head to head with the Minnesota Golden Gophers...no doubt, though! The large and brutal Fighting Sioux were too much for the smaller, quicker Minnesota team, and finished them off 4-2.
So, now the stage is set for a Saturday afternoon championship game that should prove to be some great hockey, if these two games were any indication. And if you have High Definition available to you, they will be showing the game on ESPN and ESPN-HD Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time.
Go Pioneers!
