I truly wish that it hadn't taken this long to get Wallace and Gromit on the big screen, but in another sense, it was great timing, as AllieBecker, who REALLY likes Wallace and Gromit (almost as much as her dad) got to see it on the big screen. True, she may not remember it, but one can always hope.
But on with the review...
As always, the claymation was really well done, the story was extremely well thought out, and the characters, along with the always lovable Wallace and Gromit, were well developed and added a lot to the movie.
I've been a huge W&G fan since the early-nineties, after seeing "The Wrong Trousers." I soon found the earlier short that was produced, "A Grand Day Out" and then later, got to see the third short movie, "A Close Shave." If you have a chance to pick up the DVD with all three, do it. It's well worth your investment.
The premise of the new movie is this: Wallace and Gromit, the eternal entrepenuers, have started a pest control company called Anti-Pesto. Heh...that always makes me giggle. Anyway, the town's Giant Vegetable Competition is upon them, and the Anti-Pesto team has their hands full with all the little creatures that love to dine upon veggies. The town soon finds out that there is a giant, were rabbit on the loose who threatens to shut down the competition.
I don't want to give any spoilers, because I truly do recommend this film to old, young, and anywhere in between. Allie did really well, mostly I think because she was exposed to them before going, but also she's getting older and is a little more able to pay attention for more than 30 minutes at a time.
Check out the movie, check out the official Wallace and Gromit website, and thanks for reading!
