Seven years ago tonight, Delphine and I were up on Lookout Mountain, amidst the fog, the glowing red lights on the towers, and slightly overshadowed in the horrors of Columbine that had taken place just a few days earlier.
We were surrounded by a lot of great friends and great family to celebrate our marriage.
As I look back, it's hard to believe it's been seven years. In some regards, it feels like forever, but in the good ways. For example, it feels like I've known Delphine all my life, even though I've only known her for nine years. I am also hard pressed to remember a lot about what it was like to not have her in my life.
In other ways, it seems SO short. Where did the time fly that Allie Becker went from having no hair, to being in pre-school and having conversations (and arguements) with us? Nate just turned a year old. What? Really? Where did that time go?
I like both ways, but while I am anxious to take the family on the road, or on a plane to go see friends and family, I know that I shouldn't wish the current time away. It's far too precious.
I digress. Honey, it's been a wonderful seven years of marriage, nine years of getting to know you, and I thank God every day that he brought us together. You truly are a great woman and have helped me in many more ways than you may ever know.
For our special night, we decided to try a new restaurant near the Westminster Promenade called Bonefish Grill. They have a great selection of fresh fish that is flown in on regular ice, not dry ice, via FedEx. Delphine had the salmon, which was excellent, and I opted for the pork chops, which were outstanding. We definitely recommend it!
Thanks for seven, honey, and I can't wait for 14!
