I know it's been a while, but I figured if I don't do some quick, short posts, I'm going to get so far behind that I'll never catch up. So, rather than post two separate entries, I'm going for the 1-2 combo here...
1. Congrats to Josh Blue from DENVER, COLORADO for winning this season on Last Comic Standing!!!
I truly could not have predicted that Josh would win. Don't get me wrong. I am extremely proud of him. He represented himself, the city of Denver, and those with CP proudly and hilariously. I didn't think his last set was as strong as Ty Barnett, but I'm glad that he won. Here's a guy who is on the U.S. Paralympic Soccer team, who lives with CP every day (are you sure he doesn't take a day off here and there, Myles?), and who is damn funny. Congrats Josh!
I really enjoyed this season, although I wish that Gabriel would have followed the rules, because it would have made for a bit longer season, and some more fierce competition near the end.
Anthony Clark did a great job of hosting, too, but I've always kind of enjoyed him. At any rate, I really hope they bring this back for another year of comedy!
2. Congrats to El Chupacabra for winning the innagural season of VH1's World Series of Pop Culture!!!
For those of you that know me well (or even just casually), you know I am a huge fan of trivia and pop culture, so when I heard that VH1 was putting on the World Series of Pop Culture, I knew I'd be hooked.
They started with 16 teams with such colorful names as "The Boeghy Bunch," "We're What Willis Was Talkin' About," "Velvet Rope Revolution," and "Lazer Wolves" (because, and I quote from a team member, "what's cooler than wolves with lazers shooting out of their eyes?" What, indeed?).
Teams were made up of 3 members, and you were not allowed to send up the same person twice in a row. The round consisted of 6 trivia questions based on the category, and the person with the most won the round, banishing the other person to the audience to watch. If the score was tied, they would go to a tie breaker question.
The two main teams I was rooting for, Velvet Rope Revolution and Almost Perfect Strangers, made it to the semi-finals, but were booted out by The Boeghey Bunch and El Chupacabra respectively.
The final round was heaven...not 6 questions for each category, but a whopping 10! I was in useless trivia nirvana!
Truly a lot of fun to watch, and I really hope they do it again next year!
Thanks for listening!
