A Seussian Set Of Anniversaries!

The Grinch Turns 50 - and 40!Happy Birthday, Mr. Grinch!

I don't care if you're a mean one...you changed your heart and endeared yourself to millions of folks over the last 50 years.

Can you believe it? Dr. Seuss' "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" was first published 50 years ago, in 1957 (yes, we're a couple of weeks early, but stay with me, there's another reason to celebrate tonight).

About 10 years later (in 1966) a wonderful animator, Chuck Jones, took on the task of bringing the Grinch to life in an animated short that has run for the last 40 years. Tonight was the 40th annual showing, but they've remastered it and put it out on DVD, so that folks can watch it anytime they want.

Most of you that know me know that I am a huge Seuss fan. The Grinch is one of my favorite stories, and the animated short is right up there, as well.

Thanks Dr. Seuss! And thanks, Chuck Jones! May you both rest in peace and put those great talents to work in the afterlife!

Cheers!
